The Romantic History of Our Original Studebaker VI Vintage Car
Our Studebaker VI was manufactured for export to New Zealand in the 1930s hence it is right hand drive. It stayed there for forty years before being fully restored and subsequently sold to an eminent Swiss banker in the early 1970s. In 2001 the car was bought by a British diamond dealer and was transported to the UK. Ladybridge Vintage Cars Bolton have owned and maintained the car since January 2010. Studebaker Corporation, or simply Studebaker was a United States wagon and automobile manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana. Founded in 1852 under the name of the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the company was originally a producer of wagons for farmers, miners and the military. Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1904 with gasoline vehicles, all sold under the name "Studebaker Automobile Company". The first petrol cars to be fully manufactured by Studebaker were marketed in August 1912. Over the next 50 years, the company established an enviable reputation for quality and reliability. The South Bend plant ceased production on December 20, 1963, and the last Studebaker car rolled out of the plant on March 16, 1966.
